Okay...as some of you may have noticed from my journal, I fell in love with Margaret Atwood's novel, Oryx and Crake.

And I've decided to put my fandom to good use~

Of course, from a fangirl's perspective, things should be fancy and pretty and good for the eyes, so....if you're reading the book for better reasons, please do tolerate my shallow approach "OTL
(..and if you haven't read the book, read it! =] )

Looks really good :) I always pictured Oryx with more catlike eyes, but regardless this is awesome!

hi there, how do you make your color tone even? im using wacom CTE-640 and i feel like all my recent works have only slight improvement from those of my previous works (when i was still using mouse). i checked the internet trying to find some tips of how to work on digital panting with wacom but i find them all useless, i mean not the direct info i need. you have a significant signature so i'd like to learn from you...

Sorry for the late reply. This is a really difficult question. I think that colour sense really comes with experience, so I'm not sure what tips to give. Sometimes I feel that decreasing saturation makes it easier to get harmonious colours, but the picture might turn out too grey if this trick gets abused. Technique-wise, I usually treat digital painting the same as traditional ones, so I pick my colours directly from the colour selector in Photoshop. Recently I've been trying out other methods such as starting with black and white paintings and adding colours on layers set to "overlay" or "soft light". It feels very different but seems to make things easier. I'll post a process picture some time next week.
