This was done as a school assignment. We were asked to portray a death scene that went with a story (not shown due to...uh...embarrassment). I wasn't quite happy about the art. I could see problems in multiple places but couldn't fix them due to time constraints.
Tools: Adobe Photoshop CS3, Paint Tool SAI, Wacom Intuos3 tablet Time taken: around 20 hours (man I'm so slow..)
-- I know that I haven't posted much lately despite the fact that I've been studying in an art school. Most of the assignments were designed to take us out of our comfort zones (not to mention following tight deadlines), so I did mainly exploration and produced a lot of junks as by-products. lol I'm going to indulge in my personal works again over the summer, hoping to pull together some of the things I learned over the term, so do expect more updates! =]
By the way, I remember that a year ago, I left a journal expressing my hesitation toward entering art schools, and saw quite a bit of resonance in the comments. Now that I've finished year one, is anyone still interested in the topic? I'm trying to decide if I should write another journal about my experiences and thoughts.
Killed by the own cat. It is realy hard, you are feeding it and loving it and then it kills you. It's sad but also one of the most funniest things I have seen.
I love the very detailed hair and the amazing color work, and as a few others have said the cat really does add too the sadness of the drawing, and the broken vase with the dying flowers behind and next to him, i also like the fact it looks like someone has just opened the door to find him dead on the floor good work on portraying his death in such a good way and with a strict deadline, keep it up
You really succeeded with your assignment. I usually don't like violent death scenes, but your colors are beautiful and I like the use of light and perspective. Poor boy and poor kitty! For some reason this song was playing in my head while I was staring at your picture. [link]
I know this is a death scene but I have woken up like that after a night of drinking quite a few times. It's intense, the hanging phone, the broken vase and obviously the bloke draped over the chair, and the cat adds more feeling to it. I would like to see more disruption in this, like one of the chairs in the background knocked over or the curtain ripped off the hooks. Just a little something more. The skin tone is remarkable. On the back, are they bruises or is it just the way you did it?
This dA-Article automatically made me think about this amazing work, and thus I'm wondering ; what is the story behind this painting ?
Great job!
